Kallop Humanitarian and Environmental Center in partnership Kereken kwuri Boue community with support from Het Actiefonds stage a peaceful protest to raise awareness over decades of environmental pollution that has destroyed the very means of livelihood, causing rampant death of both human and livestock in their community.
The community paramount ruler and his council of Chiefs and Elders, men, women and youth groups’ turnout in their numbers to express their dismay over the sad environmental situation experience in the community for some time now. The community paramount ruler Chief Ezekiel Manson Gara-loo said “my community has suffered many years of crude oil spills and air pollution from the activities of the oil companies, “it is only the negative effect of the oil business that my community experience. They are mining the oil and collecting the billions of dollars while emitting the hydrocarbon and poisonous gas into my community”.
The paramount ruler lamenting on the neglect of the community by the government said there is no government presence in the community as the community is not accessible due to the deplorable state of the road, no school, electricity or potable water. He said that his people are dying as a result of the pollution that is before them.
